Tim in the Glow

Story

Bathed in the pale light of a screen, Tim leans forward with narrowed eyes, the rest of the room swallowed by darkness. His posture is tense but focused, the kind of concentration that suggests hours have already passed unnoticed. The glow carves out his tired features, hinting at late-night work or a search that he can’t let go. The stillness around him makes the moment feel private and obsessive, as if the world outside has fallen away to leave only him and what waits on the monitor.

Cinematography

The camera faces Tim head-on from just behind the monitor, placing the screen as a low, dark band at the bottom of the frame that anchors our viewpoint. A medium close-up centers his face and shoulders, isolating his expression while letting the surrounding room recede into shadowy negative space. The sole light source is a practical: the monitor’s cool, upward spill that sculpts his cheekbones and brows and creates deep shadows above his eyes, intensifying the sense of fatigue and fixation. Desaturated blues dominate the palette, enhancing the nocturnal hush and the feeling of digital solitude. Shallow depth of field keeps the background soft and unreadable, pushing all attention to his gaze and reinforcing the tunnel-vision focus of the scene.
